“Learning that technology is all about the people who use it”

As someone who belongs to the engineering team, I’ve also recognized the importance of designing user-friendly systems. On the technology front, it’s impossible to design something useful without listening and understanding the end-user inputs of those who have to operate these systems day in and day out. You must talk to the operator, the technician, and the helper, for they bring their own experience. All interventions are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and workplace safety.

“It’s the pats on the back that pushed me forward”

I started out as an accounts support staff and later became an accountant when my manager encouraged me to upscale my knowledge and take more responsibility.. In 2011, when my brother and mother passed away suddenly, I got a call from the MDs which reinforced the caring and supportive culture that is in the DNA of the organization.

“I realized I am working for the planet”

Sustainability is a key index for any business to keep growing and for ensuring that every stakeholder’s interest is aligned. My experience with government institutions on sustainable sugarcane production has been very satisfying and rewarding. Our partner institutions recognize and acknowledge our long-term values and commitment in all our farm and farmer-focused programs, especially on soil and water conservation. While the expectations from stakeholders and community was aspirational, we could achieve the same with our meticulous planning and execution excellence.

“I took the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference”- Robert Frost.

I joined DCM Shriram Ltd. in the Production department, which was not conventional, but I knew that there was no going back for me. I worked with shop floor employees and I am glad that I was treated like any other male employee. I did have my apprehension in the beginning where listening to my own voice on the walkie-talkie would make me overthink. But with time things changed, my work was proof of my potential. This was a result of the trust of my colleagues who accepted my work, showed their confidence in my efforts which ultimately helped me in excelling.
