We are committed to creating a sustainable and environmentally conscious circular economy, where we work collaboratively with various stakeholders to protect land, air, and water quality and enhance climate change mitigation efforts.
Our Meetha Sona initiative, in collaboration with IFC and Solidaridad, is an expression of that commitment. It is a unique sustainable sugarcane production program that aims to benefit over 2,50,000 sugarcane growers by increasing yields through conscious farming practices. The initiative is based on the 3 āSā principle of Suitability, Scalability, and Sustainability and has catalyzed behavioral change among our growers.
With the aim of building more capacity per hectare, Meetha Sona tackles contemporary challenges like adaptation to climate change along with knowledge dissemination and adoption of good agriculture practices for soil, water, and crop management.
The project has contributed significantly to productivity growth, large-scale conservation of water resources, and soil health enhancement. And has resulted in thousands of farms in our catchment area delivering double the average yield.
At each stage of the sugarcane growing cycle we have partnered to facilitate on ground change and growth. The results are amply visible in the quantum jumps in productivity and income we have been able to generate for our growers. And improved metrics on social, economic and environmental performance.
