Preventive Healthcare

DCM Shriram Foundation has a holistic approach to healthcare. The ‘Mother & Child Program’ has an overall objective to bring infant and maternal mortality to near zero in the adopted villages of UP through a focus on immunization, combating malnutrition, menstrual health management and promoting institutional deliveries. The Foundation has a cadre of Sehat Saathis, or Village Level Workers (VLWs).

To enhance community outreach for Mother and Child Health, we have introduced a Mobile Health Unit equipped with the latest medical facilities and staffed by qualified medical professionals. Three MHUs have been deployed in Hardoi district (Todarpur, Barkhani, and Hariawan blocks), along with one in Lakhimpur Kheri district (Pasgawan block). This program was initiated to facilitate last-mile delivery within government health infrastructure, specifically targeting the identification and management of High-Risk Pregnancies (HRPs) across our intervention areas. Our objective is to supplement government initiatives by providing urban-level healthcare services to pregnant and lactating mothers.

This program aims to have a short-term impact on identifying and managing High-Risk Pregnancies (HRPs), while also focusing on long-term impact through rigorous capacity building for Frontline Workers (FLWs). By equipping FLWs with technical skills, knowledge, and data mapping techniques, the program ensures they are well prepared to effectively identify and monitor HRPs.
